There are some specifications that mandate the clients send requests in random intervals to the server, particularly during the error scenarios. In such a scenario, a random sleep is necessary to wait before sending the request again to the server.

The main reason for having this kind of rules is to reduce the load on the server with frequent requests.

In this article, we will see how to implement random sleep in the python.

import random
import time

#Generates the random value in the given range.
sleep_time = random.uniform(1, 5)

First, we need to import the random module. It provides various functions for generating random numbers.

Next, we’ll generate a random sleep time using the random.uniform() function. This function takes two arguments: the minimum and maximum values for the range of the random number to be generated.

In this case, we’ll set the minimum to 1 and the maximum to 5, which means we’ll generate a random float between 1 and 5.

Finally, we can use the time.sleep() function to sleep for the randomly generated time. It access sleep time in seconds as an argument.
